Pfizer is pleased to announce the 2010 funding of the Global Research Awards for Nicotine Dependence (GRAND), with a mission to:
Pfizer is pleased to announce the 2010 funding of the Global Research Awards for Nicotine Dependence (GRAND), with a mission to:
- Advance the understanding of the mechanisms of tobacco and nicotine dependence and its treatment.
Scope of the Program for 2010
- Human laboratory (eg, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, cravings, withdrawal)
- Pharmacotherapy of smoking cessation and relapse, and/or its interaction with behavioral support
- Characterization of subtypes of smokers and appropriate interventions.
Awards
It is anticipated that 6 awards between US$50,000 and US$200,000 each for a total of US$1.2 million will be granted in November/December 2010. These awards are open to all researchers. Award recipients will be chosen by a board of international reviewers who are all recognized leaders in the field of nicotine dependence and smoking cessation.
We strongly encourage applications from junior investigators.
The deadline for applications is May 12, 2010.
